Refrigerators repair tips
The refrigerator is, without a doubt, the most important appliance in your home. The centerpiece of any kitchen, the backbone of a great dining experience, and the only practical way to keep foods fresh and edible, without a properly functioning refrigerator and freezer your quality of life would surely diminish. Anyone who's ever scrambled to save their groceries after a power outage knows this first-hand. Use Thermometers to Gauge Temperatures. Placing thermometers inside your refrigerator can help identify areas that may not be cooled properly. Ideally, with the temperature dials on their default setting, the fridge portion will maintain a healthy 37 degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer portion will remain at 0 degrees (or 3 and -18 degrees Celsius, respectively). Adjust the temperature dials if needed, but if this does not help, you may need refrigerator repair. Call us today at: |
Dryer repair tips
Replace plastic or foil, accordion-type ducting material with a rigid or corrugated semi-rigid metal duct. Most manufacturers specify the use of a rigid or corrugated semi-rigid metal duct, which provides maximum airflow. The flexible foil type duct can more easily trap lint and is more susceptible to kinks or crushing, which can greatly reduce the airflow. Note: white vinyl hose is prohibited and should never be used in dryer venting. Disconnect, clean, and inspect the dryer duct and venting every couple of years, or contact us and we can clean your dryer components. Some dryer vents may need more frequent inspection, such as in homes with complex construction where the dryer vents exceed 6 feet from the outside, or with smaller stack dryers and dryers that are older and do not have moisture sensors or high temperature safety limit controls. This will reduce the fire risk and increase the dryer's efficiency. Call us today at: |
Washer repair tips
It’s important to feel comfortable in your own clothes, which is difficult when you’re wearing dirty laundry. Unless you prefer the tedious process of washing your clothes by hand, the value of a working washer and dryer cannot be understated. St George Appliance Repair knows this better than anyone. Always use HE (High Efficiency) detergent. Front-loading clothes washers are designed to use High Efficiency detergent. Using regular detergent creates too much suds, which will affect the machine’s washing and rinsing performance. Over time, it can lead to odors and mechanical problems. Call us today at: |
Stove and Oven repair tips
Worn or Broken Components Everything wears down eventually. Light bulbs commonly malfunction, and while some may be easy enough to replace yourself, others can be protected by coverings that require professional assistance to remove. Knobs and dials typically wear down with use and may even break outright, creating an unacceptable amount of uncertainty cooking. Error Codes Most newer ovens make use of digital screens and complicated electronics to allow for greater utility. If your appliance generates an error code or warning, unplugging the unit may be enough to reset it to proper working order. However, if it does not, home repairs are to be avoided by all but the most qualified do-it-yourselfers as the risk of causing additional damage is significant. Call us today at: |
Dishwasher repair and maintenance Tips
A dishwasher is generally a low maintenance appliance. Below are some basic tips for keeping your dishwasher running in tip-top shape. (Note: Before doing any work on your dishwasher, turn off the power at the circuit-breaker box.) Don’t Get Zapped. Dishwashers have built-in water heaters and motors which can consume a lot of electricity; couple that with all the water a dishwasher uses and you can see how improper wiring and connections can put you at risk for electrocution, fire or power outages. All dishwasher should always be plugged into a grounded outlet or wired direct. And your main socket must be rated adequately to handle the large load required by most dishwashers. Make Sure Your Dishwasher is Level. If your dishwasher is not level, it could leak. To check, open the door and place an air-bubble level along the edge inside. If the dishwasher isn’t level, raise or lower either side by adjusting its “feet” or add a wedge to balance correctly. Call us today at: |
